Outstanding! We are looking forward to meeting you. For details on the full reunion check out this page: http://ussfletcher.org/2005.html
And for those of you who can't make it to Connecticut the 2006 reunion is expected to be in Carson City, Nevada so start making your plans now. The date isn't set yet but it should be on or near the third week of September. |

Earl
I like how you put that.
"Tour to Mashantucket Pequot Museum."
Hidden translation---going to the casino.
Ken can you make that salute into a roll of the dice.
See you there Tin Can Sailors or should I say "see you at Foxwoods"

Murph, the local hosts wrote the script and have done all the planning. I've never been up there but I know it's going to be a lot of fun. Fletcher sailors are the same regardless which Fletcher they sailed on. Some of our members can tell you tales of Guadalacanal and other battles in WWII.... or Korea.... or Vietnam... or about watching A-bomb tests.... or just sipping cold Primos at the EM Club in Pearl. I went to my first Fletcher reunion in 2000 and have been hooked on them ever since.
As for Mashantucket or whatever it is, you lead the way and I'll gladly follow! |

Well I hope I didn't spoil a suprise. Lucky the 4th is not a major holiday, the Slots there have been known to be a little cool, or not in the giving spirit. Especially Thanksgiving Day.
Every body around here just calls it Foxwoods, if you have seen any advertisements, it is all that and more. Fun, Fun, Fun.
The begining of October should be a great time to tour Battleship Cove or Newport for that matter. Both city's have wonderful Ethnic foods, Newport just has a little finer dining, ambiance.
Whomever from the Reunion Group decided on New London. BRAVO ZULU |

Typically one of our members agrees to host the reunion and that's the case this year, the hosts live not too far from there and has set things up. At each reunion we have a business meeting on the morning of the last full day where members can vote on a number of things including the location of future reunions. In 2007 my wife and I are going to host the Fletcher reunion here in Oklahoma City.
The fellow who is hosting the 2006 reunion in Nevada actually lives in Colorado but he travels a lot and has experience in doing this kind of thing and he has already hosted a couple of successful Fletcher reunions in Colorado and Montana.
Currently most of the active members in our group are from the old DD-445 and with age afflicting us all we are anxious to start passing the reins of control to you younger guys over the next few years. In the meantime you guys can get involved with us and I think you'll find Fletcher sailors are much the same regardless which Fletcher they sailed on. Both our ships shared the same home port and visited many of the same places. I am one of the few who can claim to have been to sea on both Fletchers, I and one other DD-445 old fart got to make the DD-992 tiger cruise last May from Pearl to San Diego. The other fellow happens to be in Hawaii right now on business and he said his plane overflew the DD-992 on his way in and she is resting peacefully in the inactive ships area near Ford Island.
As for myself, I've never been to New England so my wife and I are very much looking forwardto this reunion. Bring any memorabilia you have that you'd like to share with us. We have a hospitality room where the sea stories/lies and beer/booze flow freely plus a history room where material from both ships is displayed. |

I am looking forward to the Carson City reunion next year for sure. Do you think I could cruise over to Hawaii, hook up hull 992 and haul it back to Diego? Would anyone be interested in creating a true Naval Museum? I bet we could take away some business from the Midway and there is an open pier too.
The heck with Diego, might need a larger trailer and slightly bigger truck to haul it over to the reunion. When finished we could launch it into Lake Mead, should raise the water level a couple of inches.
There is no greater sailor than a greyhound sailor for sure. Earl, for the Oklahoma reunion, will need to bring the 992 QD mat and Battle flag from 992. Will need a working party to load it up though. Cheers my friend. |

Uh, um... yeah, we have a lot in common! Jeez, we'll have to "enhance" our stories a bit to compare with those of "the greatest generation"
Fortunately I can "produce" some "actual photos" of our greater adventures - like the time our ship was abducted by aliens...
Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to Connecticut this year. I wonder if it would be to much to ask for Shaun to have a few extra beers for me. Carson City though, Count me in. |

Nobody mentioned before that there would be drinking. I will have to check my calendar. Any good microbreweries near by Shaun? Although a Sam Adams Octoberfest sounds pretty good too! |
